Welcome to the BrainCare Performance Center in Carlsbad, California!
We would like first to thank you for your service!
Our clinic is proudly veteran owned and operated.
We are excited to announce that we accept and are in-network for TriCare for patients experiencing Depression.
Tricare Insurance Available for Patients with Depression
As veterans, Dr. Awodele and Dr. Apides both understand the toll that serving our country can take on our active military personnel, veterans, and their families. We have seen first-hand how the sacrifices you have made for our country can affect you and your loved ones.
We understand that Depression can occur because of events that you experienced during your service and from being away from your home and family. And this affects not only you but also your spouse and family members. Our mission at BrainCare Performance Center is to offer a long-lasting and effective solution. We will do our absolute best to make your treatment process as seamless as possible!
MeRT Treatment and TriCare Insurance
Dr. Awodele has brought a state-of-the-art mental health treatment called MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy, to Carlsbad and the surrounding areas.
MeRT is a more sophisticated and tailored form of TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) that is both gentle and drug-free. It has been proven to show some amazing results. * To learn more about this cutting-edge technology and how it can help you with your Depression, click here.
TriCare is an insurance plan issued by the United States Defense Health Agency offered to active military personnel, veterans, and their families. The equipment used in TMS is FDA-cleared to treat Depression, and in 2016, TriCare approved coverage for TMS therapy for Depression.
As a result of seeing amazing successes with MeRT, Dr. Awodele is proud to bring this breakthrough technology to the area by opening BrainCare Performance Center Carlsbad.
Additionally, because of his experience during his active duty with the United States Navy, Dr. Awodele has made it a priority to accept TriCare Insurance so that military personnel, retirees, and their families can use their TriCare Insurance for the treatment of Depression.

I have been a military physician for most of my career. And I have seen a lot of functional marines and sailors with Chronic Fatigue, Depression, Anxiety, TBI, and PTSD who didn’t seek treatment because they felt physically strong or didn’t want to take medications due to their operational status. I have also witnessed close friends report exhaustion and near helplessness. Witnessing firsthand their transformation after receiving MeRT treatment made me a believer in its effectiveness.”

How it Works
TriCare West is the insurance provider that serves the western region of the United States. And TriCare offers three levels of insurance: TriCare Prime, TriCare Reserve, and TriCare Select.
TriCare Prime
If you have TriCare Prime, please make an appointment with your primary care physician or other medical provider and request a referral to see us for treatment for Depression. Additionally, please print the required Letter of Attestation, and give this to your primary care provider so that it can accompany the referral to TriCare.
You may have questions about this, and we are happy to help guide you through this process.
TriCare Reserve and TriCare Select
If you are suffering from Depression, you do not need a letter of referral to TriCare from your primary care provider. All you need to do is contact our New Patient Coordinator, and she will get your questions answered and get you on the schedule for your initial qEEG and consultation with Dr. Awodele. He will then get all the necessary paperwork filled out for you (or your spouse) so that you can begin your treatment as soon as possible.

TriCare Coverage for Depression Treatment
TriCare coverage will only apply if you are experiencing Depression as your primary diagnosis, and you must have tried previous treatments, such as medications, that were unsuccessful. If you have TriCare Prime, please have your primary care provider list “Depression” as your diagnosis when they submit the approval to TriCare for TMS/MeRT treatment.
Your PCP will submit the referral and Letter of Attestation to TriCare. Please note that your PCP will also need to indicate our physician’s name and contact information on the letter of referral to TriCare. In this way, TriCare will know where to send the letter of approval.
Please have TriCare send your referral to our fax number:
833-330-2628

Once we receive the referral from TriCare, we will contact you to confirm approval or denial. If they approve your coverage, then we will get you scheduled for treatment.
If you have any other type of TriCare Insurance other than TriCare Prime, including TriCare Reserve or TriCare Select, simply reach out to our New Patient Coordinator by calling 760-280-6191, and she will get you on the schedule. Dr. Awodele or Dr. Apides will meet with you after your qEEG, and we will fill out the paperwork on your behalf to send to TriCare for approval.
