Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT) is an innovative brain treatment using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to restore optimal nerve activity and communication in the brain. Oluseyi Awodele, MD, MS, Joel Apides, MD and the professional team at BrainCare Performance Center offer MeRT TMS to boost your overall brain health and treat conditions associated with brain imbalances, such as mental health disorders and traumatic brain injuries. Call the office in Carlsbad, California, today to talk with their New Patient Coordinator, or connect online to request an appointment and learn how MeRT TMS can improve your life.
MeRT treats symptoms caused by underperforming areas in your brain. These dysfunctional areas develop when the electrical activity in certain nerves decreases, often due to a mental health disorder or trauma.
Low-quality nerve signals reduce neurotransmitter levels and disrupt nerve communication in specific brain pathways. The symptoms you develop depend on which part of the brain isn’t working properly.
MeRT solves this problem, beginning with diagnostics that precisely identify your dysfunctional brain area. Then, your provider treats the area with TMS. TMS sends gentle magnetic waves into your brain, stimulating nerve activity, restoring healthy brain performance, and improving your symptoms.
BrainCare Performance Center uses MeRT to treat conditions responsible for dysfunctional nerve communication, including:
BrainCare Performance Center also uses MeRT to improve overall brain performance, helping patients overcome brain fog, sluggish memory, loss of focus, and poor concentration.
First, you should call the BrainCare Performance Center New Patient Coordinator. They answer your questions about the treatment, cost, and payment options. If you want to keep exploring MeRT, they schedule the first of two pre-treatment appointments:
The electrical activity in your brain creates distinctive brainwaves. Your provider performs a qualitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) to map your brainwave activity and find unusual patterns identifying dysfunctional areas.
They also do an electrocardiogram (EKG) to show your heart’s electrical activity. Analyzing the brain-heart connection helps your provider fine-tune your MeRT treatment.
During your second appointment, your provider discusses the results of your qEEG and EKG and recommends a TMS treatment plan. If you decide to have TMS, they set up your treatment schedule.
Your provider places the soft TMS device against your head, sending painless magnetic waves into the targeted brain area. You have five sessions per week for two weeks, each lasting about 30-40 minutes.
At the end of two weeks, your provider assesses your symptoms, performs a qEEG to verify improved brainwave activity, and schedules another two weeks (if you’re responding to the treatment).
You need six to eight weeks of TMS treatments to achieve optimal brain changes and produce long-lasting MeRT results.
