Allison Johnson, LMFT has been working in the field of mental health for over 15 years in a variety of settings including inpatient, crisis intervention, and outpatient clinics. She has been a clinical supervisor for 10 years and enjoys training therapists in the field in addition to working directly with clients in therapy.
She is currently an Adjunct Professor at University of San Diego in the Clinical Mental Health and Marriage and Family Therapy departments. She specializes in treating trauma and abuse, incorporating somatic techniques into traditional cognitive approaches to assist clients in identifying what is keeping them stuck in unwanted behaviors.
Allison works with teens, adults, couples and families and uses a person-centered approach, blending Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, cognitive restructuring, somatic interventions, and narrative therapy. For some clients, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) may be an option to treat stuck points. She believes in trauma-informed care and honoring your story and perspective.
